Writing Mama Workshop

Post date: 26 October 2010
Date: begins 3 November 2010

Being a mama is hard and rewarding work, full of love and joy that we often cannot express in words. Whether you’re a working or stay-at-home mama or someone in between, this is the opportunity to find your voice and articulate your experiences through stories and poems.

During this online course, you will express and explore the complicated chaos that comes with being a mama, from birth and adoption stories to parental challenges. Along the way, you’ll learn the tools of craft and have the chance to share your work as well as receive feedback. As the class progresses, we’ll work to build a community of support and encouragement.

Whether you’re picking up a pen for the first time or you were born with one in your hand, this workshop is for you! Mamas from all stages (with newborns, teens, grown children, grandchildren) are welcome!

We'll begin each week with a writing exercise, post our results before the week's end, then offer our thoughts on each other's piece. The advantages of an online course is that you can participate according to your schedule: work on the exercises and post comments during the times that are best for you (e.g. during naptime, when the kids are at school, etc).

This 6-week course begins Wed, November 3, 2010. Space is limited.
