Web Writing/ Editing Specialist Needed for Save the Children (Westport)

Save the Children US, the leading independent organization creating real and lasting change for children in need in the U.S. and around the world seeks a Specialist, Web Writing/Editing. The Specialist will impact all content on the agency website and is responsible for representing the overall “voice of Save the Children” in tone and language choices. He/she will collaborate with media, branding and social media teams to develop and implement editorial calendar. Work directly with web content authors to copy edit new material and provide feedback on content choice and consistency of our written communication. The Specialist will write and edit new content for home page features, multi-media features and supporting web pages and support other writing and copy editing needs of the department.

BA in English or Journalism or Communications plus 5+ years experience working with new media/web and copy writing/editing; solid understanding of web content production, assets that contribute to an engaging web experience and how to use content and copy to unify the experience (visuals, written content, headlines, text links, captions, etc.); experience working in marketing, communications or fundraising a must. Proven experience writing for search engine marketing and understanding of how to write and edit; experience using web content management systems (such as Blackbaud Sphere). Ability to understand technical program concepts about how our work is delivered in the field and communicate them clearly and concisely to non-technical people; excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Must be able provide samples/portfolio of content written specifically for the web as opposed to content written and posted on the web.
