Wanted: Writers and Editors for Popular Regional Family Website

Post date: 07 October 2010
Mommy Poppins [http://mommypoppins.com], the popular NY area blog for parents, is accepting applications for writers, bloggers and events editors in New York City, Westchester, Long Island, Connecticut, New Jersey and Philadelphia.

Our site is written by local parents who are in the know about the best stuff to do with kids in the area, plus savvy tips on how to live well on less.

We are looking for:

Contributors: Make money writing about the cool things you are doing with your kids anyway, review shows, museum exhibits, events or do round-ups of cool classes, stores, destinations, party places, activities or parenting tips.

Events Editors: Maintain the event calendar for your region plus write the weekly weekend event round up that local parents depend on to keep them busy all weekend long. This is approximately a 5-10 hour per week commitment.

Bloggers: Are you the "Mommy Poppins" of Westchester, Long Island, Connecticut, New Jersey or Philadelphia? Take charge of one of our micro sites and help it grow. Write posts, create resource guides and network. This is approximately a 10 hour per week commitment.

NYC Editor: We are looking for the right person to help run the day to day of the NYC site. This includes editing posts for content, keywords, and tone, writing some blog posts, managing the editorial calendar, doing news round-ups, updating guides and resources and promoting the blog. The ideal candidate has excellent writing and editorial skills, is familiar with blogging platforms, HTML and SEO, is familiar with and enjoys social media, and is very tapped in to the NYC parenting scene. This is approximately a 20 hour per week commitment.
